Club Meeting Archives 2013

March 2013 Meeting: Mrs Kathryn Auckram, spoke of her inspirational journey, which after returning to education as a young mother in her twenties gained School Certificate and University Entrance.  Her receipt of a Zonta South Auckland Study Award in 1988 which paid for her nursing study books was the catalyst to begin her nursing career. Over the ensuing years she achieved many different and interesting nursing positions which have culminated in her position today as Ward Manager of Auckland Surgical Clinic. It was inspiring to hear this heart-warming story from the recipient of our Study Award in its early days.

February 2013 Meeting: Mavis Shuker spoke of her privileged role as support person accompanying a cancer patient to treatment in Australia.

October 2012 Awards Evening: Wednesday 3 October, Zonta South Auckland was very privileged to welcome Sir Bruce and Lady Robertson to our Awards Evening to join with our very dear friend and mentor Mr Ross Craig, enthusiastic supporter of our awards in presenting our Study Awards for 2012. The Hon Sir Bruce Robertson, has been among many other career moves, a lawyer in Dunedin, pro-chancellor of Otago University for 6 years, a High Court Judge, President of the Law Commission, and then a Justice of the Court of Appeal. Following his retirement he has been actively engaged in justice and law reform in the Pacific Islands along with his many other portfolios. We were extremely delighted that both gentlemen and Lady Robertson took time out of their very busy schedules to attend our Study Awards evening.

Hon Sir Bruce and Lady Robertson show delight for their prize win of a weekend for two at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort Hokianga

A moving, thought provoking evening.
