October Dinner Meeting 2014

On October 1 the club held its 2014 Awards presentation evening.   We were privileged to have Dame Judith Potter present the awards this year.  She gave an inspiring talk on the first woman to graduate and practice as a lawyer in New Zealand.  Each year we invite the previous year’s recipient to tell us about the success of year. The 2013 Study Award went to Cynthia Strickland, a podiatrist in South Auckland and she told us that she was able to use the award money to take time out of clinical work and do research projects on diabetes and gout in the South Auckland communities

Young Woman in Public Affairs Award 2014

The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award (YWPA) Programme is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement to the status of women. The winner of the Zonta South Auckland YWPA award for 2014 is Jaimie Gibbons from Kings College.
